Pjanoo was a very popular dance track while MATHIS was growing up in the EU. Having spent his whole life studying the piano, MATHIS had no choice but to arrange this classic into his debut album. MATHIS believes in a inherent connection between dance music and the piano style that is Harlem Stride. He believes that pianists suchs as Willie ‘The Lion’ Smith and Thomas ‘Fats’ Waller were the original DJ’s of their time. In this arrangement, he puts them right next to one another, to show just how connected they are to each other in function.
